The Chlorella freshwater alga is a spherical microalga and is one of the oldest plants on our planet. Affectionately called the "green round", it enjoys great popularity as a valuable food and superfood, especially among health-conscious people and athletes. Especially noteworthy is its high content of bioactive vitamin B12 (100 μg/100 g)1 and iron (112 mg/100 g)2, which makes the alga interesting not
only for vegans. Vitamin B12 and iron contribute, among other things, to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, as well as to the normal function of the immune system and energy metabolism.
Our chlorella algae are grown in a 500 km long glass tube system filled with spring water in a greenhouse in Germany. This special method allows sunlight to reach the algae from all sides. Furthermore, this method prevents pollutant deposits, such as those caused by rain, dust, or insect flight.
The spring water for the cultivation of our chlorella comes from a depth of about 45 meters. It is an artesian system. The water is free from anthropogenic contamination. It is treated in our in-house treatment plant. Pure drinking water results, which are tested three times a year. After gentle drying, the algae are then ground into a powder so that their valuable ingredients are protected and preserved. The result is a unique chlorella powder or tablets of premium quality that you can taste and feel. Constant quality controls also guarantee a natural product of the highest quality. The pleasantly mild taste of our chlorella powder makes it ideal for refining smoothies, juices, desserts, cakes, or salad dressings.

1) How often does the plant test the chlorella?
àAll production batches are tested for microbiological parameters by certified external laboratories.
àIn-house testing includes residual moisture content, water activity (aW), and sensory evaluation etc.
2) Is there consistency from batch to batch?
Analyses of nutritional components and contaminants are generally carried out once a year. These results are representative of the annual production, as the daily harvests are blended throughout the year to compensate for natural variations.
3) How often does the plant test the underground water?
The water is tested three times per year.
4) What are the plant water filtering processes?
The algae farm uses a professional water treatment system to produce drinking-quality water. This includes a gravel filtration system to remove manganese and iron from the groundwater.
5) How often are the tubes cleaned?
This largely depends on how the cultures grow. Therefore, it is not possible to specify a general cleaning frequency. Cleaning intervals are determined individually for each cultivation system.
6) How often does the plant conduct a heavy metal analysis? Does it vary from test to test?
Heavy metal analyses are conducted once per year. No significant variations have been observed over the past 20 years.
Regarding the actual analytical reports, we can provide a certificate of analysis for every batch.
7) How long is the product shelf life and does the plant provide a packing date for consumers?
Pure Chlorella products have a shelf life of three years from the date of packaging.
For pure Chlorella products, we indicate a best-before date (BBD) on the packaging. This date is calculated as three years from the date of packaging.
